weeknotes #70
last updated 2 minutes ago
- hey! it's weeknotes time!
- wrote my first buttondown newsletter today since moving off substack again, so excuse me if this newsletter is full of deepcuts!
- finished careless people today, what a wild ride. there's lots i find strange about the book but overall i thought it was an interesting read.
- i now have a 190 day streak of journaling on 750 words! can't believe it, haven't been able to believe it since around day 70 to be honest.
- i have cut one (1) piece of the jumpsuit i wanted to start cutting out last week. lol. lmfao in fact. but i did start!
- enjoying being in my notes more and am going to try some more structured revisiting/amending old notes this week, as i think it might help me get the ol' "content" flywheel going a bit faster. going off the zettelkasten thing of fleeting vs permanent notes, which are complicated to define as far as i can tell from searching... what i conclude is that permanent notes have been edited and massaged more to be notetaker voice, thought and decision filled? so basically i'm gonna try and edit my old stuff more, and actually look at older notes and see what i agree with still or what can be added to, changed or removed. 🤓 i don't like zettelkasten as a methodology for my notes, but it is weird to have written all this stuff (i apparently have nearly 4,000 notes???? tbf a lot of them are dates lol) and only look at a tiny portion of it, and when the mood takes me lol. my main thinking is that i wrote everything down for a reason, but it doesn't mean it needs to be saved, and it doesn't mean the idea/writing is fixed, complete and/or permanent either. and i find a lot of cool stuff looking back! very excited.
- i'm gonna do a capacities (my preferred "PKM"/note taking app) walkthrough over on my youtube which will explain my commonplacing and planning a bit more as at least one person wants to see it, and i will hopefully enjoy making it.
- want to do some more "defined" volunteering as well, where i have a task and someone to ask questions who makes themself known to me lol. i have been doing a lot of community organising and flat structure organising but it tires me out, need to turn that bit of brain off a bit. might try and find some website tasks to do for that!
- debating signing up for csprimer again despite it being so spendy. let me know if you know of any other "learn you a CS" programs that aren't just puzzle focused?
- yet to finish but enjoying this essay about email.
- eating okra, roasted aubergine, pancetta, pasta and lebkuchen.
- drinking hot chocolate, london fog, mocha and the crispy cold tap water of winter.
- i hope you've had a fantastic week and next week treats you so well. 💟
- see you next time?
