  • started at another gym, hopefully this time i will keep at it, it's a lot more of a community and i'm hoping this will keep me doing it. it turns out the secret wasn't that i hate classes, it's that i hate cardio classes! strength training ones are completely fine and dandy even if i am in pain as i actually enjoy the underlying movements, who knew.
  • I've started a quote garden of all the quotes I find online that are interesting using an app called Napkin; I want a digital garden proper but so far on napkin there's no way to differentiate between notes that have a source and ones that don't, and I don't want to (seem to) steal or take credit for anyone's brilliance!
  • If anyone has tips for digital gardens when your usual note taking style is to randomly mix together public and private consumption stuff and thus keep it all private, lol, please let me know!
In life, you will become known for doing what you do. That sounds obvious, but it’s profound. If you want to be known as someone who does a particular thing, then you must start doing that thing immediately. Don’t wait. There is no other way. It probably won’t make you money at first, but do it anyway. Work nights. Work weekends. Sleep less. Whatever you have to do. If you’re lucky enough to know what brings you bliss, then do that thing at once. If you do it well, and for long enough, the world will find ways to repay you. – Jonathan Harris
  • I'm writing this again despite a long gap because I realise writing and generalised "internet stuff" - I'm working on it, okay? - IS what I want to do, I just keep getting into funks where I feel like I don't deserve the airtime/bytes of storage space for whatever I'm making, and that's silly and sad and like I said, I am working on it. I read a really great book along the lines of the above quote called Dark Horse, which despite being a bit apolitical and annoying about career choices was really helpful for validating me in my 'chase your dreams, fool, and chase them wisely' mindset. Dark Horse says that the key is honing useful skills, experimenting, and chasing what feels like a good option for now whilst keeping your eyes open, all sensible.
  • I've been trying to eat more protein, to keep my gains, as the gym bros would say. I'm trying Misfits vegan protein bars and whilst some of them are nice some are genuinely like eating flavoured chalk, yum! I recommend speculoos flavour so far. I think that meal addition things like this are always a little gross; I tried a British soylent type brand bar a while back, Jimmy Joy, which has more calories to play with in a bar as it's replacing a meal, and it was only a little nicer than the worst Misfits bars. We don't have the technology!
  • I'm feeling a little uninspired with YouTube but I'm very glad I tried. All the SEO apps say no one searches anything to do with ethical tech so I guess for now I'll have to pivot or do very niche videos that will spread by word of tweet.
  • Hope your week is went well! See you next time.
