i think the problem of "metablogging" isn't really a problem in itself. it depends on what the purpose of blogging is meant to be? I think a lot of people in the indie web sphere are blogging for self-expression; sure, if you want views or concerted interaction, writing that you don't know what to write is unlikely to cut it. if you're writing simply to get something out, get over perfectionism, see what writing online is like, it fits that for sure. lots of people are writing about their lives, about their thoughts and feelings about deeply personal things; they don't need ideas on how to interlink the indie web to supplement this, as it was never the point.

i deeply agree that the web needs "more hands on the loom", as brennan puts it, but disagree whether every blogger does. i think a lot about loneliness as a writer/creator online, and i think whilst it's easy to see this as a necessary part of creating, there are many ways around it in all types of solitary pursuits if people care to. knitters have circles, writers have groups, video essayists have a discord... i know a few people trying to start communities for bloggers and writers for the web and i think things like that can help with some of the issues.

i am unsure the web was ever that connected in its heyday between the every-person blogger and the rest of the web (especially people who didn't know them!) but i was not there, feel free to correct me! i would love to be regaled with tales of the early web to argue with!
