how i think
last updated 6 minutes ago
i really like when people describe their internal experiences so giving it a go! two of my favourite pieces on this are charlie nebe's video and experience.computer (though the latter isn't just about the below it's also about creativity, but i'm there for the internal experience part lol).
- very nearly completely visually aphantasic, though i can can defs imagine music.
- struggle to imagine other people's voices.
- i don't think i'm faceblind but if it's a spectrum i am definitely on it (often thrown by people changing their hair, and not even dramatically)
- have an internal monologue/speech but it's not constant. cannot give this speech a voice of my choosing.
- have a strong sense of internal space and place even if it's mostly without images. i find this the hardest thing to describe, like how even if you close your eyes you can sort of feel out where stuff is in the room, or where you think people are based on other cues?
- defs can imagine tactile stuff ("can you imagine what it feels like to lick a brick?" is the example people always give lol)
- i'm unsure how i hold stuff in my head for coding, it feels more like a collection of facts or how i think about writing? like it doesn't really exist until i can see it but i can interrogate my thoughts silently without writing, i just rarely do! (code or writing, i don't write/code without being by the computer)
- relatively head empty person usually tbh, i do get crowded unwelcome audible thoughts at times, but usually unless i choose to think or read or listen to music or whatever it's very quiet in my head (used to not be for mental health reasons but luckily - in my specific case - it went away with the right combination of medication)
- other people have told me they have very tactile/space based coding thoughts and i wonder if that's a thing i could learn to link together usefully, or if the images are key (i think the latter but i have only talked about in depth with two people)
what's your mind like? are you apahantasic, hyperphantasic, something in the middle?
this is my seventh post in my writing month challenge, which i decided is "one post for each day of november".
